His photographs have been exhibited in China, France, Indonesia, Italy, and the United States, and are included in a number of important museum and library collections, including the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, the George Eastman House in Rochester, the library at The Cleveland Museum of Art, the Denver Art Museum, the Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University, the National Gallery of Australia, and Light Work in Syracuse, NY.

He has received a number of important grants and residencies, most recently from the MacDowell Colony, the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, the Henry Luce Foundation, and the American Institute for Indonesian Studies.

Brian has taught and lectured on photography at a number of prestigious institutions in the United States and abroad – including at Cornell University; the School of Art and Design at Alfred University; Massachusetts College of Art; the Santa Reparata International College of Art in Florence, Italy, Pasundan University in Bandung, West Java; the Institute of Technology in Bandung; the University of Indonesia; the Indonesian Institute of Art, Yogyakarta; the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; the School for International Training, the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Serbia; and the Beijing Film Academy. 

She served as Vice-Dean of the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad from 2012 to 2024. She is also a member of the jury of the Rovinj Photo Days photography festival and an artist represented by The Art Design Project Gallery (USA).

Her education includes a Bachelor’s degree in Painting, a Master’s degree in Photography, and doctoral studies in Filmology, completed at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad and the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade.

Her artistic practice includes numerous exhibitions across the region, Europe, and the United States. She is continuously engaged in the promotion of photography and interdisciplinary art through various projects, including DAHD Studio; Danube Links; Research into Non-Standard Artistic Practices (photogram, monotype, collage); Bildtransfer; and the World Biennial of Student Photography, among others. She also develops and delivers authorial lectures such as The Development of the Photographic Medium and Photography as a Cultural Medium, while simultaneously working on theoretical approaches and analyses of photography as both a medium and an artistic discipline.

She is the founder and director of Bel Art Gallery (est. 1998), served as director of the Brtka-Kresoja Foundation (Petrovaradin, 2011–2016), and is the co-founder and director of the Contemporary Art Festival Danube Dialogues (est. 2013). She has led numerous international art projects in Novi Sad and abroad. She was a member of the application team for the Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture 2021 project. She is also one of the initiators of the national Sava Šumanović Fine Arts Award.

She lives and works in Novi Sad.

His research on the Metafisica del Paesaggio Urbano has received numerous awards and mentions. In 2015, following the publication of his book New York, Metaphysics of the Urban Landscape (SIME Books), Black & White American Magazine dedicated a long feature article to his work titled Gabriele Croppi and the Modern Metaphysical Landscape. This was followed by further interviews and publications (The Guardian, Forbes, Photographie Magazine, Surface China Magazine, Azart France, Blow Magazine), contributing to the international dissemination of his research.

He lives and works in the fields of publishing, photographic collecting, and education. From 2020 to 2025, he held the Chair of Photography for Cultural Heritage at the Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti in Genoa. He currently teaches at the Istituto Italiano di Fotografia in Milan.

His photo reportages have been published in leading magazines and newspapers including Time, The Observer Magazine, Le Monde, El País Semanal, Geo, La Repubblica, Der Spiegel, National Geographic Germany, Die Zeit, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, and Photo Italia. His work has been exhibited both in Switzerland and internationally. 

His documentary projects examine human communities, their environments, and the ecological challenges shaped by human activity. 

He has published seven books and is currently working on his eighth book about animals.
